VISITOR & COMMUNITY GUIDE
In the early 1900s, downtown Tarpon Springs was the major
shopping district in this area. Buildings here date from 1894 to
1943 and many reflect the town’s Victorian past.
Visitors will find brick sidewalks lined with trees, benches and nostalgic
street lamps. Vintage turn-of-the-century buildings now house antique shops,
boutiques, art galleries, cafés, bed and breakfast inns and an assortment of
specialty shops. Downtown restaurants include several chef-owned cafes
serving everything for the palate from seafood, steaks, traditional Greek
favorites, and their own unique house specialties.
Discover Tarpon’s Dining
Tarpon Springs has a variety of cuisine choices to satisfy any gourmand’s
taste buds. You can enjoy the best Greek food outside of Athens and sample
one of the local specialties – Greek Potato Salad. To finish off your meal you
don’t want to pass up the fabulous assortment of desserts.
Other ethnic choices include Italian, Continental, Thai and Jamaican.
Seafood, caught locally is another favorite. A number of other establishments
serve everything from barbeque and vegetarian to burgers and sandwiches.
