Games

Begin!

Speaking of golf, when was the last time you played

miniature golf or disc golf?

Tennis anyone? There is no charge at most municipal

courts throughout the area. The US Tennis Association has

named the

McMullen Tennis Complex,

with 15 courts, one of

the top five facilities in the country.

The Long Center

boasts the only indoor 50 meter aquatic

facility on Florida’s west coast, and is recognized as an official

Olympic training facility.

The

Clearwater Beach Library & Recreation Complex

offers a fitness center, three lighted tennis courts, lighted

basketball courts, a seasonal swimming pool, a boat launch

and a beautifully landscaped waterfront park perfect for

reading, fishing and picnics.

TEAM PLAYERS

Five professional sports teams call this area home.

Football’s

Tampa Bay Buccaneers,

baseball’s

Tampa Bay

Rays,

hockey’s

Tampa Bay Lightning,

soccer’s

Tampa Bay

Rowdies

and arena football’s

Tampa Bay Storm

provide

exciting action during their seasons.

Clearwater has hosted the

Philadelphia Phillies’

Spring

Training since 1947. The

Toronto Blue Jays

spend their spring

in Dunedin and the

NewYork Yankees

train in Tampa. The

Clearwater Threshers

of the Florida State League play from

April through September. Collegiate athletics also abound

in the area. One of the most popular games is the

Outback

Bowl

on January 2nd, the culmination of a weeklong series of

fun events, including Clearwater Beach Day on December 30.
