“It’s great to belong! ”

City of Largo Community Development Director Carol Stricklin states that the

city“…encourages redevelopment in the community by ensuring a business

friendly environment, with an emphasis on supporting new and expanding

businesses. The City’s development review process focuses on guiding

applicants through the review process quickly. The Economic Development

Division works to attract investment in the community and makes incentives

available from state and city sources.”

Residents of the area will benefit from the

West Bay Drive Gateway project design which

will create better access to the Pinellas Trail (a

popular walking and biking site), including a

trailhead and connections to local streets.

Also, according to Stricklin, “Two sites,

consisting of properties purchased and

assembled by the City for redevelopment, are

under contract for development of a 29-unit apartment complex and a mixed

use multi-story project. The Community Redevelopment Agency recently

created business incentives to encourage job creation and the development of

market rate housing within the…area.”

The future holds a lot of promise for Largo and the Central Pinellas region.

There are plans to expand the existing Clearwater Largo Road Community

Redevelopment Area to include Missouri Avenue. In addition, a Special

Area Plan for the Largo Town Center at US 19 and Roosevelt Boulevard will be

initiated. For more information go to
